VISITORS CENTER - Discussed the option of the L & L Pizza building - Barry Murnion joined us at this meeting stating that if he had to install bathrooms, he would need at least $250 per month and a 2 year lease.  Members of the group went and looked at the building after the meeting and determined it would be better for the Chamber to not have public restrooms, but to have a smaller area of the building for $100 to $150 per month instead.  Barry agreend and it was tabled, will be discussing at the next meeting.  Max moved to table until further discussion, Colleen 2nd - Unanimous.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION LUNCHEON - Wash held Friday, May 21st and was a success.  There were quite a few people who had never been through the museums before.

BEAR PAW ROUNDUP - Heather has ordered all of the food for the Bear Paw Roundup Concessions and they are set and ready to go.  A list of volunteer time-slots has been sent out and volunteers have been filling those slots.  They are all full - thanks to our gracious volunteers.  It has been approved by the group to place the ad for the Chamber and pay the Bear Paw Roundup for the ad.  Max moved.  Voted, Unanimous.

SIGNS OUTSIDE OF CHINOOK - It was discussed to look into replacing the Chamber sign with a vinyl covering from Montana Sign Company.  We will need DOT Approval on Changing the sign - 8x12 feet.  Chuck can help Heather with this project.  Heather will call Montana Sign Company.

USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT HOUSING PROGRAM - Brett Hyde spoke with Heather a couple weeks ago regarding Rural Development and their low interest loans for housing in Blaine County.  It was discussed how this can benefit the area and people living here and how we should promote this by helping Brett spread the word.  Heather will send something to the newspaper.  The Eagles project may benefit from this also - the area Director's name is Susie David in the Great Falls Office at 727-7580.

WEBINAR - There will be a webinar about developming Community Leadership and Board Effectiveness at the Triple E Room in Chinook on the following dates:  June 22nd, July 13th, August 24th, September 14th, October 19th.  The Chamber will be helping to "host" the event and will welcome people as they enter.  2 board members of the Chamber should attend.  Heather and Larry have volunteered.

HARLEM AMBASSADORS FUNDRAISER - Will be in Chinook in October - could possibly do a show then.  Will Table the project and find out from Jay when the gym is open in October.

DIXON FAMILY - The Dixon family would like the Chamber's input on how to improve their property across from First Bank.  They were considering putting benches and some grass there - but wanted to know what the Chamber's suggestions may be.  It was discussed and at this time, the Chamber does not feel that we have the manpower to handle a project of landscaping, etc.  Tabled at this time.

4 Wheeler Raffle - Ticket sales have begun - ticket sales are going great - get your tickets before they are gone!  The 4-Wheeler has been half paid for, need to sell the remaining tickets before the fair.  Should sell some at the Roundup.

Sugarbeet Seeds - The Sugarbeet Seeds are in and need to be distributed.  Heather will put something in the paper about the seeds being out.

- There was a special Sugarbeet Festival Meeting held on Monday, May 17th at the Pastime to discuss the theme of the festival.  Click here to see the minutes of that meeting.
Heather emailed Allan about the article ideas of "name that business" and giving away Chinook bucks.  Barry Murnion has a map of the Chinook businesses in 1904 - would be fun to publish that too.  Phonebook from 1904 also.

Meeting adjourned at 8:34 p.m.

NORTHWESTERN ENERGY - It has been discussed that Dale Wass is retiring from Northwestern Energy.  However, he believes the company will not be re-hiring someone from our area.  The Chamber would like to take a standpoint here and enourage the company to hire another individual from Chinook.  We will be speaking with Greg Jergeson - PSC and Northwestern Energy to keep an employee in Chinook for the Blaine County Area.   Richard moved and Colleen 2nd that we write a letter.

LARGE SUGARBEET STATUE - Colleen had brought a photograph of a large sugarbeet that she had encountered in her travels and was wondering if something would be possible to add to our Visitors Center as a unique draw.  We will be discussing later on when the building is complete and operational.

Notary Training - Tabled at this time - do not know if we will have enough interest in it to justify bringing the trainer down.

Marquees - The PTO has decided to take some of the funds for the Marquees and use for another project.  The Chamber decided to hold off on the marquees until we have a visitors center/rest area to place it at.

PARADE OF LIGHTS - Rita would like to see 25 floats at the 25th anniversary of the Parade of Lights.  Rita agreed to write letters to try and get people involved, etc.  Tabled.
