LuAnn spoke with our other Insurance Agent Member, Thom MacLean and he said State Farm does not offer the type of insurance we carry, so we agreed to pay Liberty Mutual and keep our policy without bids.
Parade of Lights
The Parade of Lights was a huge success thanks to Nancy Diemert and the other officers of the Chamber, and we had 25 vendors and 17 floats. The Chamber float has been disassembled and our numbers are saved in the storage shed for future use if someone would like them.
Heather is working with the City and Bear Paw Development regarding this project.
We discussed the possibility of the 2nd or 3rd week in March to have the banquet. Jay will make the decisions on this event and we will decide at the next meeting the details.
Signs on the Outskirts of Town
Heather will email her design to the different companies on our list of members and get bids on the billboard signs and report at the next meeting.
Casey Jones from Northwest Security attended the meeting and spoke about what we are going to need to get the automatic locking system installed. We agreed to look at the building following the meeting and we will report on that at the next meeting.
We were also given 2 nice brochure racks from Sweet Medical Center for the Chamber Office and we will send them a thank you card for that.
SBA Award Nominations
Still waiting to hear about our nominations for the Diemert’s and Bonnie Weber.
Adopt a Highway
Heather sent in the paperwork for the Adopt a Highway Program - waiting to hear from the state on approval.
Tables and Chairs
We will be scheduling a time to stencil the remaining 150 tables and chairs and will do it sometime in January. Heather will schedule this at the next meeting.
Festival of Trees
Heather spoke about the possibility of adding a Festival of Trees fundraiser for the Chamber in December and thought it would be a nice addition to the holidays. She would like to see businesses donate a tree and put gifts underneath of it and auction them at a dinner type setting. Tabled until next year.
McIntosh Reimbursement - Nancy spoke with Mike Inman about the incident with the McIntosh’s and he said the Chamber was not negligent of the accident, therefore, our insurance would not cover it. It was stated that if the McIntosh’s wish to get reimbursed, they would need to get compensation from the homeowners insurance of the person involved. We voted on (Nancy moved and Heather 2nd) to give the McIntosh’s $300 for their medical deductible. It was unanimous.
Cell Phone Towers
Kassie McIntosh informed Heather that a town on the Hi-Line received a cell phone tower by getting some land donated and petitioning some signatures. Heather emailed the Liberty County Chamber regarding this issue but has not heard back from them. She will call. It was discussed that waiting until January would be beneficial to our argument with AT&T, because if we decline in service coverage, we will have a valid argument. Tabled until next meeting.
Sugarbeet Festival 2011
Max Hofeldt mentioned to Heather that he would like to see Northwestern Energy, Hill County Electric, Red Rock Power, Faith Drilling, Havre Pipeline, Devon Energy, Citation Oil and Gas, NFR Energy, Omimex, and Klabzuba involved in the 2011 Festival regarding the Oil and Gas Industry. He also mentioned involving the Windpower. Heather indicated that Tara Overcast mentioned the possibility of putting up a rig for showcasing at the Festival. It was agreed on that her idea is welcomed. Tabled until later in the Spring.
Meeting adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
LARGE SUGARBEET STATUE - Colleen had brought a photograph of a large sugarbeet that she had encountered in her travels and was wondering if something would be possible to add to our Visitors Center as a unique draw. We will be discussing later on when the building is complete and operational.
Notary Training - Tabled at this time - do not know if we will have enough interest in it to justify bringing the trainer down.
Marquees - The PTO has decided to take some of the funds for the Marquees and use for another project. The Chamber decided to hold off on the marquees until we have a visitors center/rest area to place it at.
Lambing and Calving Tour
Agreed to continue Lambing and Calving tour this spring.
