Although Chinook is small, the close-knit community is big at heart. Walking down the street, everyone always waves and has a friendly smile. Anywhere you go, you run into someone you know and usually stop and talk just to catch up. Chinook is a great retirement community, complete with a Senior Citizens Center located on Pennsylvania Street just off of Indiana Street, where there is a homemade lunch served daily, along with events such as cards, rummy cube, live music, monthly birthday parties, watch movies, and pool. Every Thursday cinnamon rolls are served in the morning and occasionally breakfast is cooked and served by the men at the center. There are also numerous groups in town, including the Red Hat Society, a Quilt Guild, the Busy XX (20), North Central Montana Cattlewomen, Daughter's of the Nile, Garden Club, American Legion, VFW, and the Masons to name a few.
However, Chinook isn't just a great town to lay back and relax in, but also a great place for families to raise their children. The crime rate in our community is considerably low and there are copious children activities such as different youth sports groups for all ages: baseball, swimming, AAU Wrestling, bowling, and soccer. There are also different activities offered such as 4-H, FFA, local piano lessons, and Boy/Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. The Blaine County Library also offers books for any and everyone, and has Story Time every Tuesday morning at 10am, located on the corner 4th and Pennsylvania Street, next to the Senior Citizen's Center.
Our laid-back community offers many opportunities for all ages, and our friendly environment makes everyone feel welcome!
